What’s Happening 2018-2019
“Much Ado about Something” (Indiana Arts Commission Grant)
Through KY Shakespeare submitting a grant to the FFTA IMAGINE Program, all intermediate high ability students will see The Taming of the Shrew at their home school. Thank you FFTA and KY Shakespeare!
A second intermediate elementary seminar will take place offsite at The Gray Whale Art Center and Vintage Fire Engine Museum on April 3, 2019 (NWES, UES, and JJES) and April 4, 2019 (RES, BES, SHES, MES, NES, PWES, WES, and TJES). Our organization will use an Indiana Arts Commission Grant to bring KY Shakespeare’s Boy Meets Girl Meets Shakespeare to Greater Clark School elementary high ability students. In that performance, students will see and discuss the interconnectedness of scenes from three separate Shakespeare plays, take a walking tour of the Arts District led by Jeffersonville Art Administrator Dawn Spyker, conduct informational interviewing with both Dawn and the city engineer about their careers and how networking came into play in developing the arts district, work on their collaboration skills creating a community mural, and create a clay relief self-portrait of themselves in their chosen profession. Specific emphasis will be placed on the need for them to achieve the highest level of post-secondary education possible and to understand and apply the concept of networking in order to add stock to their positive influence in the community. Thank you IAC, City of Jeffersonville, and Dawn Spyker!
