NoCo Arts & Cultural District – Pieces Of Us!
Jeffersonville, Indiana
The NoCo Arts Center, located at 628 Michigan Avenue will soon be adorned with a community
created mosaic façade! The Jeffersonville Public Art Commission and the Jeffersonville Arts Alliance
have been working “behind the scenes” for the past six months in preparation for the Saturday, April
20th JAM Session Event! JAM (stands for the Jeffersonville Art Movement) – is FREE, INCLUSIVE,
and intended to bring our community together to create an art piece to be enjoyed by all! A grant from
the Indiana Office of Tourism Development is helping to fund this activity! The design we are creating
is colorful and full of local symbolism (see page 3). The glass for the design is being custom cut AND
local school children from GCCS are creating the 100 plus ceramic trilobite fossil replicas that will be
embedded into the design of the overall mosaic. This family friendly event will begin at 10:00 a.m. on
Saturday, April 20th with a short educational presentation on mosaics and will then flow directly into
creating the 30-foot long mosaic mural – together! Lead artists will assist in guiding the instruction.
The event will conclude at 2:00 p.m. For more information, feel free to check out the website and
social media sites below.
