Universal Kindergarten High Ability Assessment

Over the course of the second semester, GCCS will be conducting universal screening and testing of kindergarten students for high ability. As guided by the Indiana Department of Education, GCCS will use the CogAT, a culturally unbiased, pictorial-based aptitude measure, and NWEA, a culturally unbiased achievement measure. These tests will be administered by licensed school personnel during the regular school day.

The results of the tests will be used in conjunction with your child’s daily classroom performance and other assessments regularly administered by GCCS to assist the school in providing an educational experience that best meets your child’s academic needs within his or her regular classroom setting.

GCCS will contact the parents of kindergarten students who are identified as high ability to attend an informational meeting in May.
